The first system, and most common, is the Alphabetic system. In the alphabetic system, each letter is represented by a numeric value, which is used to calculate different numbers such as your life path number or your destiny number. There are a number of different calculation systems when using the alphabetic system, but the goal is the same, arrive at a single digit that represents one of the important numbers in your life.

The second system is what is know as the Abjad System. This system is also known as the Arabic system. Each letter in the Arabic alphabet is assigned a numerical value. To answer it, we must start with the history of numerology. The principle behind the phenomenon that is numerology, is that everything in our universe is based on numbers. Your life is based on numbers. You were born on a significant day, which is represented by numbers. You die on a significant day, which is, you guessed it, represented by numbers. Everything in your world, everything in your universe is significantly affected by numbers. Time, dates, money, clothing sizes, food amounts, all represented and controlled by numbers. Numerology is the study of these important figures in your life.

Numerology combines the name of a person and the date they were born. Using specific calculations, the calculator can break down the persons history, emotions, and life path. You might be wondering how this could possibly work. I was skeptical myself. Every single letter is represented by a number and when combined with the numbers from your date of birth, create a vibration in the universe that is measurable and significant.

There are two main focuses when using a name numerology calculator, the Life Path Number and the Destiny Number. I will break the two down in greater detail.

You arrive at your Life Path Number using your date of birth. Using a specific calculation you can find your life path number too. Take my birthday for example. January 20, 1988. This first step is to add the two digits that make up the month of your birth, in my case 0 and 1. The second step is to add the two digits of your birth date together, in my case 2 and 0. The third step is to reduce your birth year down to a single digit number as I do now. 1+9+8+8 = 26 and then I add the 2 and the 6 to get a single digit answer of 8. You then combine the answers from all of the steps, in my case 1+2+8. My life path number is 11.

You arrive at your Destiny Number using your full name. The letters A, J, S = 1. B, K, T = 2. C, L, U = 3. D, M, V = 4. E, N, W = 5. F, O, X = 6. G, P, Y = 7. H, Q, Z =8. I, R = 9. For example, the name Tom Smith is valued as follows: 2+6+4 = 12 + 1+4+9+2+8 = 36. You then add the digits from your answer in this case 3 and 6 to finish at a single digit, in this case 3+6 is 9. 9 for “Tom Smith” is the master number, or Destiny Number.
